One of Our Baton Rouge Boot Campers Loses 42lbs in Eight Weeks

Boot Camp Results - Barret
I've got another great success story. This guy busted his butt at our Boot Camp and followed my advice perfectly. So what did he get in return? 42lbs dropped in only eight weeks. That's twice the weight of his one-year-old daughter.
I gained a considerable amount of weight over the past 10 years which obviously affected the way I thought about myself.  I felt like I was stuck.  I knew I was out of shape but felt too overwhelmed to do much about it.  Plus, I didn’t know exactly what to do.  I would start exercising but eventually stop…
After 8 weeks I lost 42 pounds and 4.25 inches… I didn’t realize how good I could feel, and what I’ve been missing all these years…
My life is even busier now with a second job and another child on the way but making time to be active is no longer negotiable for me.

Honestly, I didn't think people would believe me so I figured I'd show you the pictures and let you read part of an e-mail that he sent to me. I'm really blessed by the fact that his wife loves to take photos... because I completely forgot to take before and after pictures. Five reasons that I think he did so well:

  1. He followed all of the advice in our diet and lifestyle manual
  2. He was passionate about setting and achieving his goals
  3. He stopped eating foods that turn on the fat storage signals in your body
  4. He started getting eight hours of sleep even though he's unbelievably busy
  5. He had the support of his wife and friends

Pretty simple isn't it? Of course there are a lot of other details but those five things will carry someone really far. Which brings up another point: Most people don't commit themselves to our diet or lifestyle advice when they first start. They think if they train hard they'll see good results in spite of their diet or the fact that they only slept five hours a night. Every person that I've trained with that mentality has failed miserably. Sure they got into better shape, but they lost very little fat. One of my first concerns was that he was losing weight too fast, which could indicate that he was losing muscle mass as well. Fortunately that wasn't the case because he also lost 4.25" off of his waist, meaning that most of his weight loss was from visceral fat. Now if you're wondering what visceral fat is, it's pretty simple. It's the fat surrounding your internal organs and has been aptly nicknamed "heart attack fat." It's been implicated in heart disease, insulin resistance, and Type II diabetes. This is different from the type of fat measured during a typical caliper test which measures subcutaneous fat (fat under your skin). If you've got a lot of visceral fat, you're way more likely to die early than someone with more subcutaneous fat. So not only did he look better, but he's way more likely to see his kids grow up and have children of their own.
