Lose Fat by Listening to Grandma? Part 1 Prune Juice Not Necessary

Introduction:

I never thought that I'd write a post like this, but I've got to say that I'm impressed. Not only was my grandmother right about health, but her advice actually helped me loose fat! Thankfully this didn't involve dentures or laxatives. In the last few months I decided to make a serious change in my health plan. When I started working for myself, I added a lot more stress to my life, this in turn caused me to start to feel fatigued all the time (can anyone say "Adrenal Fatigue?"). On top of that, Hurricane Gustave hitting Baton Rouge didn't exactly inspire great dietary habits in me. I know, I know, I'm a fitness professional. I'm supposed to be perfect right? I guess I'm human like everyone else. I was having so many problems with fatigue that I didn't feel like training myself (not too common), and I was starting to have a few nagging health problems. All I wanted was to have these things fixed but I got an extra reward for the effort - getting way leaner than WITHOUT dieting!

Here's The First Thing That I Did:

I went to bed earlier - 10:30 or no later than 11:00. I hated doing this at first, I thought my social life would completely disappear. Actually it stayed about the same, and the best part is that I'm way easier to be around. Here's the problem: Your circadian rhythms are still running on pre-electricity norms; your body is programed to go to sleep when the sun goes down. You can sleep plenty but if you go to bed at 3am your body still knows the difference. It doesn't matter if you have bright lights on and don't feel tired. Your body wants to sleep! Staring at bright lights all night destroys the melatonin release from your brain. Then when you finally do try to sleep, you can't, or it's just doesn't feel like enough. My quality of sleep has never been better! I have had problems sleeping for years, and have tried every non-prescription sleep product out there. Many worked but they weren't fixing the real problem, nor were they giving me truly restful sleep. So go to bed early, your social life will not deteriorate... unless your friends are that superficial. Photo: Rob!

Haha, does Louisiana have Trader Joe's yet?

That's not my grandma, but if

That's not my grandma, but if I had to guess as to why she's not happy, just look at the logo on that brown paper bag. She shopped at Whole Foods Market. She probably spent her entire social security check there. Lol.

Your grandmother looks like

Your grandmother looks like an angry old russian. "I had to stand in line 5 hrs for a loaf of bread, damn those communists!"
